EDMOND

Mini Review

Unlike Literary America, I will never turn my back on, gang up on, or try to do in, anybody who is trying to tell the truth. EDMOND is a movie like this: the writer, the director and the actors are trying to tell the truth. Consequently, it is to a great extent irrelevant if you like it or not. Trying to describe truth and produce emotion (all kinds, even hate and disgust) are the two great functions of Literature -- of all Art. The quality and strength of the emotion, the relevance and clarity of the truth set aside a masterpiece.

Because most truth is awful, good writers, honest writers, occasionally get into trouble.

As for entertainment-value, alone it is insignificant and amounts to little more than chatting with friends -- a waste if time.
